CCHS falls to Wash Co.

The ninth ranked Clarke County High School Lady Bulldogs dropped their first game of the season as they lost 17-16 to Washington County in extra innings Monday afternoon in Grove Hill.

Ericka Williams (4-1) took the loss despite surrendering only six earned runs.

Menetre Martin led CCHS at the plate as she went 5-for-6 with an RBI. Brittney Dunson went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI. Carrie Gordon was 3- for-6. Hannah Barnes was 2-for- 4 with a double and five RBI. Nikki Williams went 2-for-5 with an RBI. E. Williams and Brittney Harvell each had a hit and an RBI. Nicki Harvell added an RBI.

Last Thursday the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Gilbertown and beat Southern Choctaw 16-3.

Martin, N. Williams, N. Harvell, E. Williams, Nikki Ray and Brittany Sheffield each had a hit in the lopsided win.

E. Williams (4-0) got the win as she pitched three frames. Dallas Davis pitched the final two innings, striking out two.

CCHS traveled to Leroy Tuesday afternoon to play the Lady Bears. Thursday (today) they play top-ranked Mobile Christian is a key area game.

This weekend they will play in the Tombigbee Classic.

On Friday they play Leroy at 3 p.m. On Saturday they play Choctaw County at 10:30 a.m. and then they take on Excel at 12 noon.

Pool play games will seed teams for the regular tournament that starts at 3 p.m.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
