Gators ranked third in AISA

The Clarke Prep School Gators, ranked number three in the AISA, swept both ends of a double-header with Monroe Academy Tuesday afternoon 10- 0 and 12-0 in Grove Hill.

Chad Dickinson (5-0) tossed a 2-hit shut-out in one contest while Clay Furrow allowed just one hit in the other game.

Furrow had five hits, including four doubles and two RBI in the double-dipper. Dickinson had three hits and three RBI in the first game. Wesley Morgan added two hits and two RBI in the second game.

Last Friday the Gators pummeled Taylor Road 16-7 in Grove Hill.

Tanner Tucker (3-0) pitched six innings to get the win. Jason Gates struck out two in the final frame.

Gates went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Windham Jackson was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Hunter Mayton went 2-for- 4 with two RBI. Tyler Sellers went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Taylor Becton went 2-for-2. Furrow was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI. J.D. Powell, Morgan and Tucker each had a hit. Heath Bishop added an RBI.

Clarke Prep won a tight game with the Wildcats of Wilcox Academy 3-0 last Thursday in Camden.

Furrow (4-0) earned the win as he pitched the first six frames. Gates got the save as he pitched the last inning.

Furrow and Morgan each went 2-for-3. Jackson went 1-for-1 with a 2-run homer. Dickinson and Becton each added a hit.

The Gators suffered their first loss of the season last Tuesday as Cottage Hill scored late to beat CPS 8-7 in Mobile.

Dickinson went 2-for-5. Powell was 2-for-4. Furrow added a double. Morgan, Becton and Bishop each had a hit.

Dickinson started the game and lasted six innings, allowing six runs before Jackson (3-1) came on to pitch. he was the hard luck loser as he surrendered two runs.

Thursday (today) the Gators host Morgan Academy. Friday they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on top-ranked Tuscaloosa Academy.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
