Dress code change OK'd for Coffeeville High School during short BOE meeting

The Clarke County Board of Education approved an additional dress code item for Coffeeville High School during the March 22 meeting.

Students will only be allowed to wear a black windbreaker style jacket for the 2007-08 school year.

"The students now wear all manner of jackets to school and it defeats the purpose of the dress code we have now. We have the dress code so we can identify our students and with all the different jackets we can't tell who is a student and who isn't," CHS Principal Janice Richardson said.

Superintendent of Education Gerald Stephens agreed with Richardson and also suggested she list several places where the jackets could be purchased when sending the notice to parents.

Superintendent's report

Stephens reported that construction crews were making good headway at the new Clarke County High School building.
