Grove Hill planning annual cleanup week for April 14-21 Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce Grove Hill's annual spring clean up will be held April 14 - 21. This event is in conjunction with the Alabama PALS (People Against A Littered State) statewide clean up program during the month of April. The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all businesses and citizens to take a little extra time during this week and the entire month to spruce up around your business and home. A large Allied Waste dumpster will be located behind Town Hall during the week of the clean up for easy disposal of your trash. Litter and trash can be brought to the dumpster beginning April 14 through Saturday, April 21. Please do not bring household garbage or hazardous materials (paint, cleaning fluid, used oil). Old tires can be accepted if they are cut completely in half. Prior to the clean up and during the clean up week, trash bags can be picked up at the chamber office. These bags are for litter pick up along roads, not for personal use. Trash bags, gloves, water, and snacks will be given out on Saturday, April 14 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office behind the Clarke County Museum for anyone picking up trash that day. Stop by to get your supplies and register to pick up litter. All who register and help pick up litter on April 14th will be eligible to win a large garbage can from the chamber. If your club, organization, business, or any individual would like to help Grove Hill look its best, please make plans to clean up on Saturday, April 14 and during the entire week. Call the chamber and let us know what you plan to do. Litter and trash paint a bad picture of our town. Let's all do our best to make Grove Hill clean and beautiful. In addition to the clean up day, an anti-litter poster contest is being held for all third graders in Clarke County and an antilitter essay contest is being held for all fourth and fifth graders in Clarke County. A new contest category is being added this year for all 9-12 graders in Clarke County. It is an anti-littering video contest. Prizes will be awarded in all contest categories. Information about the contests will be handed out at all schools in Clarke County.
If you have any questions, please call the chamber at 275- 4188 or e-mail at grovehillcoc@tds.net.
