Bulldogs fight hard but come up short

Despite scoring seven runs in the second inning and chasing the Washington County starter from the mound the Clarke County High School Bulldogs dropped an 11-10 contest last Thursday in Chatom.

Terrance Frazier led CCHS at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Hunter Cross went 2-for- 4 with a double and two RBI. Dewayne Owens was 2-for-4 with a double. Danny Norris went 1-for- 3 with a pair of RBI. Justin Robinson went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Josh Watford went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Norris took the loss as he worked in relief of starter Watford.

Last Tuesday the Bulldogs traveled to Tuscaloosa to play American Christian in a double-header.

In the second game Clarke County gave up six unearned runs and lost 9-8.

Adrian Snell led CCHS at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Frazier was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Cross went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Owens was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Watford was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Robinson was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Tyler Walker went 1-for- 3.

Justin Fendley took the loss for the Bulldogs.

In the opening game an error allowed American to come from behind and beat the Bulldogs 7- 6.

Norris shouldered the loss.

Walker went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Watford went 2-for-3 with a double. Robinson went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Cross was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Owens, Frazier and Snell each had a hit.

Tuesday afternoon Clarke County hosted Jackson. Thursday they have a chance to nail down a playoff spot when they host Mobile Christian in a key area contest.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
