Bulldogs eliminate Mobile Christian 2-1

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs won a classic last Thursday as they beat the Leopards of Mobile Christian 2- 1 in 10 innings to clinch a spot in the Class 3A playoffs.

Robert Malone, in his first game back since being injured two weeks ago, held Mobile Christian to just three hits, while fanning 11 and walking three.

Malone opened the first inning with a double. Then Justin Fendley, Gators get running for Malone scored on Hunter Cross' double to stake the Bulldogs to a 1-0 lead that stood until the seventh inning when the Leopards scratched across one to tie it at 1-1.

In the 10th inning CCHS kept Mobile from scoring and then in the bottom of the inning, Tyler Walker doubled, then moved to third on Dewayne Owen's ground ball. Malone then hit a shot past the third baseman to knock in the winning run.

Malone had a pair of hits, with a double and an RBI. Cross had an RBI double. Josh Watford had a hit. Danny Norris also had a double.

With the win CCHS claims the runner-up spot in the area and ends the Leopard's hopes of the playoffs.

Monday afternoon the Bulldogs

fell 10-8 to the Millry Wildcats in Grove Hill. twin bill with

Malone went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Owens and Terrance Frazier each had a hit and an RBI. Rashad Snell and Walker each had a hit.

Norris took the loss in five innings of work. He allowed five runs and gave up two hits while walking six. Watford started the contest.

The Bulldogs host Leroy Thursday (today). See those results in next week's Democrat.
