Gators get even in twin bill with Faith

Gators get The Clarke Prep School Gators split a double-header with Faith Academy Monday afternoon in Grove Hill.

In the second game the Gators won 5-1 as Clay Furrow allowed just two hits over seven innings and struck out four.

Furrow, who has a 22-game hitting streak, went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Wesley Morgan was 2- for-4. J.D. Powell and Windham Jackson each had a hit. Taylor Becton, Tanner Tucker, Heath Bishop and Jason Gates each had an RBI.

In the first game Faith won 7-2.

Morgan went 3-for-4. Furrow and Powell each had a hit and an RBI. Becton, Bishop and Gates each added a hit.

Chad Dickinson took the loss as he allowed six runs in six innings of work. Becton pitched the last frame, allowing one run.

Last Friday the Gators lost 8-7 to county-foe Jackson Academy.

Gates went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Furrow was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Powell was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Becton and Morgan each had a hit.

Gates shouldered the loss in four innings of relief work. Tucker started the game.

CPS traveled to Monroeville Tuesday to play Monroe Academy. Thursday (today) they host South Choctaw Academy. Those results will be in next week's Democrat.
