Clarke commissioner to serve on Alabama Senior Services Board

Clarke County Commissioner Rhondel Rhone of Fulton has been appointed by Governor Bob Riley to serve on the Alabama Department of Senior Services Advisory Board.

"Commissioner Rhone brings a strong background in local government and community service to our board," said Irene Collins, Alabama Department of Senior Services Executive Director. "I am confident that he will give our department valuable input on the needs of senior citizens in the Alabama-Tombigbee and Black Belt Regions."

Rhone will serve a four-year term from 2007 until 2011. The board meets quarterly to receive updates on the activities of the department.

"I am looking forward to working with the Alabama Department of Senior Services and am very interested in programs that benefit senior citizens of our region and the entire state," said Commissioner Rhone.

Rhone has served on the Clarke County Commission for the past 15 years and presently serves as the President of the Alabama Association of County Commissions. He is chairman of the Board of the Community Action Agency serving Baldwin, Escambia, Clarke, Monroe and Conecuh counties. Rhone serves as a member and past chairman of the Executive Committee. He currently serves as steward of Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton.
