Trip to Florida a lot of fun
Gail Marshall

Mrs. Retha Marshall of Chance continues to enjoy her yearly trip to Orlando, Fla. during the week of spring break.

This year, she and daughter, Marie, traveled to Orlando with daughter, Gloria and her husband, Alfonza and granddaughter, Camilla. They all left Monroeville on March 23 and enjoyed a fun filled week of sightseeing, shopping and visiting the Disney attractions.

They were greeted in Florida by other family members from Denver, Colo., who had planned the sort of "mini" reunion. Leo Marshall Jr., Miles Marshall (Marie's son), his wife and two other friends and Willie Marshall and his family all met up with mother, Retha and truly enjoyed themselves.

The weather was beautiful for visiting various tourist attractions in the city. Mother Retha also got to spend some quality time with the twin additions to the family, Caris and Cason. She was surprised with an early birthday party while there and thoroughly enjoyed that also. They all look forward to another trip next year.

Mrs. Annie Pearl Welch reports that Fellowship Baptist Church of Chance was the host for the retirement reception of Mrs. Mary Virginia Taite Harris, daughter of the late Mary and Hartford Taite.

She recently retired from BellSouth in Mobile after 38 years of service. On this past Sunday family members and friends gathered at the church so that she could enjoy her celebration with her loved ones.

Being the most senior employee left there, all of her co-workers had already retired, therefore she chose to celebrate at her home church. Rev. Otto Ward delivered the morning message. Her brother, Earl gave a short talk about his sister and Janie Mae Taite sung a solo. A program was printed with many memorable pictures and occasions throughout her lifetime. She was presented with many gifts, including a certificate of honor and achievement and a money basket.

Congratulations to Mrs. Melisa A. Marshall Washington, daughter of Marie Marshall of Chance, who will receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama on Saturday, May 5. The graduation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Pruitt Hall. Melisa is a graduate of Clarke County High School.

Please continue to pray for family and community members who are recovering from recent illness: Carl Chapman, Dot Dotson, Nellie Galamb, Dorothy Carlton, Evelean Taite, Mamie Westry, Grace Haskew, Maxie Taite, Monroe Kidd, David Johns, Loretta Harper, J.D. Morrissette, James McCaskill, Ella Mae Pugh, Anniece Welch, Alijay McCaskill, Retha Marshall, Elouise Bumpers, Hattie Kidd, Mary Alice Ruffin and Lucy Dubose.
