Search at jail finds crack cocaine in tennis shoe
By Kathryn F. Pickard
What started out as an arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia only got worse for Quentin Sherial Sloan Monday afternoon.

Lawmen Ron Baggett, Joe Allen and Jim Mundie show crack rock found in arrested man's tennis shoe.
Sloan and his brother Terrence Sloan were stopped by Task Force One Commander Mike Hunt. Terrence Sloan was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on possession of a controlled substance. Hunt also found a razor blade with what was believed to be cocaine residue on it in Quentin Sloan's possession.

Hunt called for a deputy to transport the two men to Clarke County Jail from New St. Mathew's Road in the Choctaw Bluff community.

"I transported them to the jail and we began a strip search of both men. That's when I found the crack cocaine in his (Quentin Sloan's) tennis shoe. He started begging me not to say anything, to let him flush it down the toilet. I told him I was an officer and he needed to stop.

"Then he offered to give me money. He didn't specify an amount he just said he'd give me money. I told him I didn't want to hear another word. I'm sworn to uphold the law. He can't ask me to do that," Deputy Joe Allen said.

It turned out Quentin Sloan had 22.3 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. He was also charged with promoting prison contraband, possesion of a controlled substance and bribing a public servant.

Quentin Sloan's bond was set at $23,000 and Terrence Sloan's bond was set at $15,000.
