Thomas

Enoch Thomas, 55, of Chicago, Ill. died April 3, 2007 at his residence following an illness.

He was born March 17, 1952. He was a native of Jackson. He was a member of Jackson AOH Church since early childhood. He was educated in the Clarke County School System. He was a 1972 graduate of Jackson High School. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 and received an honorable discharge from the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle M16 Marksmanship Badge. Upon discharge he was employed in Chicago as a brakeman for the railroad.

Survivors include his mother, Elder Floree Thomas, Jackson; one daughter, Caroline M. (Steven) Ray, Kalamazoo, Mich.; four brothers, Andrew (Linda Carol) Thomas, Sam Thomas, all of Detroit, Mich., Willie (Dorothy) Thomas, Matthew Doss, Tommie (Ella Mae) Tate all of Jackson; three sisters, Equilla (Clifford) Gee, Chicago, Ill., Deborah McGee, Detroit, Mich., Deloris (Leonard) Beck, Jackson; two grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; two special friends, the Rev. James Howard and Larry Pernell, both of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Thomas Sr. and two sisters, Rosie Wiggins and Maritha Brown.

The service was April 9 at 1 p.m. at Jackson A.O.H. Church. Burial was in the A.O.H. Church Cemetery. Military rites were performed at graveside. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Alfred Pickens, Larry O'Neal Pernell, Willie Hicks, Pressley Robinson, Rev. Douglas Pernell and Floyd King.
