Steele

Rev. Herman Steele Jr., 79, of Coffeeville died April 12, 2007 at Jackson Health Care Facility.

He was born Dec. 26, 1927. He had pastored several churches. He was a member of several organizations such as the Baldon Springs District Association and the Clarke County Commission Merit Board. He was retired from the Clarke County Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife, Parfene Steele; five sons, Eugene (Shirley) Curtis, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Warren (Doretha) Steele, Port St. John, Fla., Ernest Johnson, Birmingham, Herman Steele III, Mobile, Keith (Kisha) Steele, Coffeeville; two daughters, Phyllis (Tommy) Boler, Jacksonville, Fla., Marsha (Bennie) Allen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by father and mother, Herman Steele Sr. and Irene Steele, one brother, Lemoyne Steele and one sister, Mary Alice.

A viewing will be Wednesday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church and a memorial service will also be held from 7 until 8 p.m. at the church. The service will be Thursday, (today), April 19 at 12 noon at Union Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Rev. J.W. McDaniel Jr. to officiate. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery in Mobile. Smalls Mortuary and Cremation Service of Mobile will direct.

Active pallbearers are members of the Big Foot Hunting Club.
