Lady Bulldogs edge Excel 3-2 to get win

The Clarke County High School Lady Bulldogs ended their losing skid Tuesday afternoon as they beat Excel 3-2 in Grove Hill.

Carrie Gordon went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Brittney Dunson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Nicki Harvell was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Ericka Williams (10-7) allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out two to get the win.

The Lady Bulldogs lost 8-1 to the visiting Lady Wildcats of Millry High School last Friday at Hudson Park.

Gordon went 3-for-4 to lead CCHS at the plate. N. Harvell went 2-for-3. Nikki Williams scored a run. Abbey Walker drew a walk.

E. Williams (9-7) took the loss. She gave up six hits, walked four and struck out three.

The Lady Bulldogs lost 13-0 to the second-ranked Lady Leopards of Mobile Christian last Thursday in Grove Hill.

Walker, Brittney Harvell, Hannah Barnes and Dunson each had a hit.

E. Williams shouldered the loss.

Thursday (today) Clarke County goes to Jackson. On Friday they stay on the road as they visit the Lady Bulldogs of Sweet Water. Next Monday they host Jackson.

The results from these games will be in next week's Democrat.
