Kelley named NAIA Player of the Week

Junior Kelley
Montgomery, Ala. - Senior second baseman Junior Kelley of Auburn University Montgomery was named the NAIA National Player of the Week last Wednesday. This award marks the first time in Senator Baseball history that a member of the team has won the weekly national honor. Earlier this week, the Whatley native was also named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week and the NAIA Region XIII Player of the Week.

During the week of April 2-8, Kelley hit .714 with four doubles, three homers and 11 RBI in wins over Columbus State and conference foe Shorter College. He also established a new AUM record for consecutive games with a hit on Saturday with two-hit outing versus Shorter. Kelley safely hit in 33 straight games before a 0-2 outing in Saturday's nightcap. Against Columbus State, he set a new Senators single-game record with three doubles.

Kelley is hitting .472 with 13 doubles, 10 home runs and 49 RBI on the year. Through 45 games in 2007, he maintains slugging percentage of .739 and has walked eight times with only two strike outs. In only his second year with the Senators, he stands as the school's seventh alltime leader in total hits with 185, the third all-time leader in doubles with 35, and the eighth alltime leader in homers with 18.
