Jackson Police Dept. detail cases and incidents investigated in '06

The Jackson Police Department has released its statistics for the period of January through December 2006.

Out of 423 total cases, 12 were found to be unfounded. Of the remaining 411, 217 were resolved.

Reported drug offenses numbered 26, 23 of which resulted in arrests, giving the department an 88 percent clearance rate.

Simple assaults were the second highest offense reported at 175. Three of those cases were found to be unfounded, resulting in 132 arrests from the 172 actual offenses.

Twelve aggravated assaults are listed, resulting in 12 arrests.

The department investigated 159 theft cases, five of which were determined to be unfounded. A total of 37 of the 154 cases were resolved, resulting in a 24 percent clearance rate.

Those statistics do not include automobile thefts. Three stolen automobiles were reported recovered by the department, two of which were stolen within the jurisdiction, resulting in a 66 percent clearance rate. Two of the cases resulted in arrests.

The department reported four cases involving the unauthorized use of a vehicle. All were found to be actual offenses.

There were 37 burglaries reported, with three found to be unfounded. Six of those cases were resolved.

Five robberies occurred in 2006, with a 100 percent clearance rate by the department.

Four reported rapes were all found to be unfounded.

For the year, $188,276 worth of property was reported stolen, $58,080 of which was recovered.

Damaged property reported totalled $33,700.
