Bulldogs beat Clay Co. to advance
      For the first time since 1998 the Clarke County High School Bulldogs will be advancing to the second round of the state baseball playoffs as they beat Clay County 5-2 in Ashland Tuesday afternoon. Robert Malone struck out 12 batters, allowed just four hits but walked eight in getting the win.

Gators end baseball season at Faith
      The Clarke Prep School Gator baseball team ended their season Monday on the short-end of a 6- 5 score in Mobile. Clay Furrow was the hard-luck loser as he gave up eight hits while striking out three. Chad Dickinson was 2-for-3 to lead the team at the plate. Tanner Tucker was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Gets his limit
      Jimmy Grayson, of Toddtown, killed his fifth turkey of the season to claim the limit. The bird weighed 18- pounds, had a 10-inch beard and 1.25-inch spurs. It is the second year in a row he has killed the limit.

      Hunter Spidle killed his first turkey recently while hunting with his dad, Bob Spidle. The bird weighed 18-pounds and sported a 9.5 inch beard.

First turkey
      Ashley LeAnn Wheat, 5- years-old, killed this turkey while hunting with her Paw- Paw, Frank Smith, on April 6. The bird had a 5-inch beard. She is the daughter of Robert and Linda Wheat of Creola and the neice of Tony and Debbie Ogle of Grove Hill.
