Opening Day a huge success
The Grove Hill Dixie Youth baseball and softball leagues held their annual opening day festivities this past Saturday. Over 350 youngsters representing 28 teams took to the fields at some point during the day. Following the parade the softball field was named in honor of longtime softball and league supporter Sonny Gibson. Here his widow Barbara and daughters Kim McGhee and Suzanne Moore are accepting the sign from council members Terry Stifflemire and Cynthia Jackson. Gibson was one of the original organizers of the Grove Hill leagues.
