Area Church Announcements Bashan's spring revival Bashan Baptist Church will have its spring revival beginning Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6. The revival preacher will be Bro. Reggie Quimby. Bashan will also have its Decoration Day, Sunday, May 6. There will be dinner on the grounds following the morning worship service. There will be no night service. As as reminder to those of you have loved ones buried in the cemetery at Bashan Baptist Church please remove any old flowers from the graves. There will be a clean up time at the church grounds and the cemetery before the revival and Decoration Day. Rev. Jimmy Simpkins is the pastor. Cemetery work day set There will be a cemetery work day at the Cobb-Wilson Cemetery located on the Annie Wilson place in Grove Hill on Saturday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m. If you have any questions please call Ann Harrison at 334-994- 4192. Salem Baptist's homecoming Salem Baptist Church of Scyrene will have its homecoming Sunday, May 6. Sunday school will be at 10 and worship at 11 a.m. Dinner will be at noon. Bro. Maurice Dyess will be the speaker. The Revelators will sing in the afternoon. It is asked if you have a loved one buried in the cemetery that all old flowers be removed. If you don't members of the church will remove them so the cemetery can be cleaned. It is time to send in your donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. Bro. Harvey Hutto is the pastor. New Prospect homecoming and decoration New Prospect will have its homecoming and decoration Sunday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the cemetery followed by worship at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. The cemetery working will be Saturday, April 28. Please remove all old flowers and containers before the work day. Cantuchee Baptist special Cantuchee Baptist Church- Overstreet Cemetery will observe homecoming and decoration day Sunday, May 6 at 11 a.m. Bring a covered dish and flowers for the cemetery. Dress cool and casual. Winkie Hicks and wife, Cindy, will be singing for us. Bring your favorite recipe to be put into the new cookbook. The church is located five miles past Salitpa on Highway 69 from Jackson towards Coffeeville. The guest speaker will be Dr. Rodney Mullins. Bring chairs for outside. Women's Day at St. Peter's St. Peter Baptist Church will have its Women's Day program Sunday, May 6 beginning with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 11:30 a.m. Sister Geraldine Davis will be the guest speaker. The program will end at 2 p.m. with Prophetess Mattie Buxton of Tallahatta C.M.E. Church of Campbell at the guest speaker. The Anointed Angels will be the musical group. It is requested that all women wear white. Rev. Matthew Davis is the pastor. St. Jameses Women's Day The St. James A.M.E. Church of Jackson will have its annual Women's Day program Sunday, May 20 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sister Winnie A. Taylor will be the speaker at the 11 a.m. service and various speakers will be at 3 p.m. service. Rev. Clausell Boykin II is the pastor. Truevine's special program Truevine Baptist Church of Dickinson will have its Lady in White Program Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. The speaker will be Minister Valencia (Val) Coates along with his congregation. Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church will award four $500 scholarships at its Annual Homecoming Service on Aug. 19. Two scholarships will be awarded in the name of the late Bernard Martin and is being sponsored by his family and friends. The other two scholarships are sponsored by Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church. Applications are available and can be obtained by calling or writing the Church. The mailing address of the church is P.O. Box 747, Grove Hill, AL 36451 and the phone number is 251-275- 8743. The Bernard Martin scholarship is open to any high school graduate or college student in the Mt. Zion, Winn, St. Luke, or Grove Hill area. The Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church scholarship is only open to members of Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church. When requesting applications, please indicate the scholarship in which you are interested.
