School year will soon be over The month of April flew right by, getting closer to the end of this school year. Students have been getting ready for exams, banquets, Awards Night, Memory Night, and of course, graduation. Clarke County High School will conduct its review with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on May 7 and 8. In order to be reaccredited, CCHS has had to meet rigorous standards set forth by the association. The accreditation process requires interviewing stakeholders in our school, analyzing the direction of education at CCHS, and verifying that the desired results are being achieved. SACS, as it is commonly known, accredits over 13,000 schools and school systems throughout the U.S. and overseas. The primary focus of SACS accreditation standards, as stated in their mission statement, is to help schools improve student learning. The school's concert band performed their annual spring concert April 25 in Sage Auditorium. The Bay Area Strings Community Orchestra performed musical masterpieces the following evening in Sage Auditorium, as well. It is always exciting for the community to come out to CCHS for public entertainment. On Saturday, May 5, Clarke County's Jr. Miss Pageant will be held in Sage Auditorium. Schaefer Bradford, Keke Cummings, Whitney Drinkard and Ellie Wilson will represent CCHS in the pageant and we all wish them the best of luck. On May 8, Awards Night and Senior Memory Night will be held in the auditorium at 6 p.m. All students receiving an award received an invitation for them and their family to attend. All of the members of the senior class are required to attend Senior Memory Night, where the class will remember all of the good and bad times they have shared together. A slide show along with class predictions will entertain the student body and public. Everyone is invited. With the year coming to an end, several clubs and sports organized banquets to honor the hard-working members of the sports and clubs. Volleyball, Basketball, DECA, Yearbook, VOE, and Spanish Club all held luncheons for their members. The Ambassadors will travel to Grove Hill Elementary on May 3 to work at the elementary school's annual field day. The day that all of the seniors have been waiting for is just around the corner. On May 18, the senior class will graduate at 6:30 on the field of H.G. Prim Stadium, and everyone is invited to come out and support the Class of 2007. Final Exams for seniors will be May 14 and 15. Underclassmen will take the exams May 21 through 23. The last day for students is May 24. Report cards will be ready for pickup May 23- 31. In order to have the report card mailed to a student, the student must leave the address along with a stamped envelope in the front office.
This year has been a very busy one, and with one month to go, it is sure to be an overall great year at Clarke County High School.
