C'ville council looking for site for baseball field
New library board members appointed
By Kathryn F. Pickard

The Coffeeville Town Council has started the ball rolling on a new baseball field for the town.

The topic was brought up by council member Sammy Shields during Tuesday night's meeting.

A landowner had been contacted about one possible site, but he was not interested in selling at that point.

Council member Dwight Pugh was asked to organize a committee to find other possible sites.

"This way we can have a ball team again and our players won't have to go to Jackson or Grove Hill," said Mayor Faye Cotten.

Other business

Danny D'Andrea of the Clarke County Wireless committee spoke to council members about bringing wireless internet to the county. Council members agreed to contribute $267 toward the feasibility study and agreed to draft a letter of support. The waterworks board will have to approve the use of the water tower for equipment.

Council members approved a resolution for the town to apply for a water grant.

Mayor Cotten asked council members to nominate three people for the Board of Equalization.

New library board members appointed were Julie Clanton, Jeanette Stringer, Dawn Burnham, Kathleen Dunagan and Pearlie Bell.
