Opine- Tallahatta VFW to hold open house and singing

The Opine-Tallahatta Springs Volunteer Fire Department is having an open house and gospel singing on May 19 from 5 p.m until 9 p.m. at the department's new station.

Featured singers will be The Dixie Disciples, The Glory Road Quartet, The Sounds of Joy, Rev. Warren Huggins, Derrick Rotton, Bridget Shewmake, Mallory Broadus, Brandy Beech, Kaylyn Grocholl, Darlene Phillips and Bobby Lee.

The event will also serve as a fund-raiser for the fire department. Fund-raising activities will include cakewalks, cake auction, concession stand, and country store.

An heirloom quilt will be raffled. Also fire department tee shirt orders will be taken during the event. Door prizes will be given away throughout the evening and there will be a giant slide and sports jumper free for the children.

The station is located at the old community house site approximately 12 miles west of Thomasville on the Tallahatta Springs Road. Admission is free.
