Clarke lawmen chase suspects Several law enforcement agencies joined in on two chases last week. On Tuesday, May 1, about noon Clarke County Sheriff's Deputies Jim Mundie and Joe Allen went to the residence of Angela Moseley on Toddtown Road to arrest her on warrants for worthless checks. They observed her vehicle leave the residence and attempted to pull her over. Moseley increased her rate of speed in an attempt to elude the officers. The pursuit continued through Toddtown, south on Winn Road, down Salt Works Road into Sandy Lane with speeds reaching up to 90 miles per hour. Mundie executed a pit maneuver to stop Moseley at the intersection of Highway 69 and Sandy Lane. She ran into the ditch and then rammed Mundie's patrol car. Mundie exited his vehicle and began approaching Moseley, but she accelerated and he was forced to get out of her path. As Moseley headed south on Highway 69 Coffeeville Police Department and Jackson Police Department joined the pursuit. Road spikes were deployed at Highway 69 and Wiggins Road but Moseley was able to drive around them. She proceeded to the Club Wiley Road area and her vehicle was found abandoned on Dubose Avenue. Moseley ran into the woods and made her way to a residence on York Road where she was arrested by Jackson police officers and transported to Jackson Police Department where she was cited for several traffic violations. She was also charged with criminal mischief, first degree, attempt to elude, driving on wrong side of road, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, no insurance and 17 counts of worthless checks. Damages to the patrol car were estimated at $2,500. Later that afternoon a Fulton woman shot at a man trying to enter her residence. Clarke County 911 received a call from Elizabeth Baugh on Swimming Pool Road stating that as she was trying to open her back sliding glass door when she saw a hand trying to open it from the outside. Baugh grabbed her pistol and fired several rounds at the man as he ran behind her shop into a wooded area. Clarke County Sheriff's deputies along with Officer Billy Spinks of Thomasville Police Department and Officer Carey Slayton of Jackson Police Department and their canine units responded. As the canines tracked the subject Chief Deputy Vergil Chapman, Investigator Ron Baggett and Deputy Jim Mundie talked to neighbors who had seen a suspicious subject in the neighborhood earlier who was looking for work and riding a yellow Mongoose bicycle. Later that day lawmen found Mike Ladaniel Welch, who lives on Reservoir Road in Fulton. He was charged with burglary, second degree and his bond was set at $20,000.
