Antique truck restorers enjoy hobby
Restoration of 1964 pickup took 10 years to complete
By Jim Cox

Warren Huggins' 1964 Ford has had only three owners since it was bought new.
Warren Huggins' 1964 Ford F100 pickup has had only three owners in its 43-year life and he's spent more on it than the previous two owners combined.

The Thomasville resident is understandably proud of the restored pickup he displayed at the Nuthin' New Car Club show in Thomasville Saturday.

Huggins said he had just completed the 10-year restoration project. And he meant "just" completed.

He said he had just gotten the grill painted and back in about a week ago and pointing to a few smuges on the driver's side vent glass, he said he didn't even take time to clean it before bringing the pickup to the show.

Huggins said the project started out as a way for he and his sons to work together on something. It took so long that the sons grew up and movd out but he continued to work on it as time permitted.

The pickup only has 106,000 actual miles on it.

Huggins bought it from Buck McIntyre of Grove Hill who purchased it from Garrett Brunson of Chilton who had bought it new in 1964.
