Bulldogs fall to Geneva in quarter-finals

CCHS' DeAndre Love slides in for an apparent run against Geneva Friday. But was called out after crossing the plate, right. The run would have tied the game at 2-2. Instead it ended the inning and the Bullldogs later lost the game. Photos by www.garyhortonphotography.com
The Clarke County High School Bulldog baseball team's magical run through the playoffs ended last Friday as they lost twice to Geneva in Grove Hill.

In the second game the Bulldogs lost 10-1.

Tyler Walker had two hits to lead the team at the plate. Hunter Cross had a hit. Robert Malone added an RBI.

Walker shouldered the loss. He pitched three innings, gave up four runs, struck out two and surrendered three hits. Josh Watford pitched the last four frames, fanning three and giving up four hits.

Clarke County lost the first game 2-1 with Malone being the hard-luck loser.

He pitched all seven innings, striking out nine, allowed five hits and two earned runs.

Justin Robinson had three hits and an RBI. Walker, Dewayne Owens and Adrian Snell each had a hit.

The Bulldogs (13-26) lose one senior starter in Malone and one other, Justin Fendley who also was a designated hitter.
