Congrats to Chance Graduates

Gail Marshall Scyrene & Chance
In my last column I mistakenly named the wrong Crawford brother as the organizer of the recent Lower Peach Tree "3 on 3" basketball event. It

should have stated that professional basketball player James Crawford was the event organizer. Anyone who has not seen the refurbished basketball court should go by and see it. The paint and new bleachers really make an outstanding sight. Congratulations to them again on a successful event.

Happy Birthday! Greetings are extended to the following community members who will celebrate their birthday during the month of June: Nettie Dotson- 6/21, David Kidd-6/10, Kenya Lewis-6/18, Leslie Morrissette- 6/17, Linda Chapman-6/24, Andy Welch Jr., 6/16, Essie Morrissette-6/2, Evelean Taite-6/2, Roger Davis-6/26, Arthur Morrissette-6/2.

The Chance Baptist Church will observe their Pastor's Appreciation Program on Sunday, June 10. There will be one service. Morning worship services begin at 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Raymond Harris, pastor of Independent Baptist Church of the Packers Bend community. All surrounding churches are invited to come and participate. Rev. Charley Marshall is the pastor.

June 5 is an election day. As a registered voter, please plan to go to your local voting place and vote.

Graduates in the Chance community were recognized at the Chance Baptist Church on Sunday, May 27. Those recognized with a token of support from the church were: Duana Morrissette, Jarvis Packer (high school grads), Katlin Kidd, Melisa Washington (college grads). Other graduates with local ties included ShaRhonda Pugh, granddaughter of Annie Pearl Welch. She graduated from the sixth grade. Alex Taite, grandson of Maxie Taite graduated from Pepperdine University in California. Fay Carstarphen, daughter of Mary Welch, graduated with a bachelors degree in education. I want to mention that Fay has worked diligently for many years to obtain this degree and has finally done so. Congratulations to all of these graduates on their achievements and the best of luck to them in their future endeavors.
