D.C. trip will lobby for Hwy. 84

Sign denotes Hwy. 84 as the El Camino East-West Corridor.
The 2007 annual meeting of the El Camino East-West Corridor Commission will be July 11-12 in Washington D. C.

The commission is made up of residents from five southeastern states to promote the four-laning and other improvements of U. S. Highway 84.

In Alabama, an intense push has been underway for several years to complete the four-laning of 84 across the state. A number of Clarke Countians attended last year's meeting in Washington and made a good impression on federal officials. Promoters hope that a large local delegation will attend this year to continue the lobbying effort for the highway.

Details and registration forms are available locally from Sharon Jones of Coffeeville, 251-276-3665 or e-mail: sharonj@teaminfocus.com, or Sandy Smith, director of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce who is secretary of the commission, 251-743-2879, or e-mail: sandy@monroecountyal. com.
