Harbuck is new JHS principal

Harbuck
Jackson native Kenneth W. Harbuck was hired as the new principal at Jackson High School during Monday's Clarke County Board of Education meeting.

Harbuck, a graduate of Jackson High School, was a math teacher and coach at Jackson Middle School from 1985 through 1989, a math teacher and coach at Jackson High School from 1989 through 2002 and a math teacher and administrative intern at Vigor High School in Mobile from 2002 through 2003. He has served as assistant principal at Satsuma High School in Satsuma since 2003.

He has a B.S. in Education- Math from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Masters in Education Administration from the University of South Alabama.

"This is my home and I am very proud to be coming back to Jackson. I coached basketball here for 10 years and was assistant football coach here for 17 years. I look forward to continuing the success of Jackson High School," Harbuck said.

Other business

A resignation was accepted from Denise Flowers, the counselor at Jackson High School.

Cherilyn Purnell was rehired as a math teacher at Jackson Middle School.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20 at 4 p.m.
