Neighbors fight fire until firemen arrive
An apparent blaze in the kitchen area sparked a fire at David and Kathy Dunagan's home on Foscue Avenue in Grove Hill late Tuesday afternoon. The Dunagans were not at home when neighbor Larry Bagley spied the smoke. He and another neighbor, Tony DuBose, battled the fire with a water hose until firemen arrived. Grove Hill firefighters were assisted by fellow firemen from Helwestern. The fire was quickly extingushed but the smoke and water damage was extensive. The fire compounded the already hot temperatures and many firemen were drenched- not so much from water but from sweat. Neighbors in the subdivision gathered to watch the action and to offer condolences to the Dunagans.
