Hole Shot back again on 'Bigbee

Speed boats zip toward the finish line during the last Hole Shot races in 2000.
The Thomasville High School Quarterback Club will sponsor Hole Shot 2007- the Larry Stephens Memorial Boat Race on Saturday June 16, at noon and Sunday June 17 at 1 p.m. at Campbell's Landing on the Tombigbee River near Morvin.

The last time there was a Hole Shot event was in July 2000.

"Earl Parrish approached the Quarterback Club about sponsoring the event. We looked at it as being a very good fundraiser and as something we could do," Daryl Drinkard of the club said.

Organizers expect 65 boats from places like Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi to compete in eight different classifications.

T-Shirts are available at local businesses or from any member of the THS Quarterback Club. The admission for the event is $5 per person. Concessions will be available at the site.

A Boat Show will be held Friday at 6 p.m. in the Wal-Mart Super Center Parking Lot.

For more information, please call Daryl Drinkard at (334) 636- 4943 or any club member.
