Hendrix is new managing editor

Hendrix
Barry H. Hendrix has joined The Clarke County Democrat as managing editor.

A native of Tuscaloosa and an alumnus of the University of Alabama, he previously served as editor and publisher of The Choctaw Advocate in Butler, as editor of The Blackbelt Gazette in Demopolis and as managing editor of The Demopolis Times.

"I have worked in the Black Belt region for several years and seen how important a newspaper is to a community," Hendrix said. "A community newspaper not only informs the public but hopefully proves a willing partner with citizens in future progress. This is an exciting time for Clarke County; the potential for growth is limitless. I hope I can bring my experience to The Democrat and help it as it continues to be an essential part of the lives of people in the region," he said.

Jim Cox, editor and publisher of The Democrat, said, "I am glad to have someone with Barry's news background join our staff. He will be contributing a lot to helping us continue to put out a quality newspaper for Grove Hill, Clarke County and the southwest Alabama region."
