Steen-Agee wed in Pine Hill
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bain Agee of Pine Hill. She is the granddaughter of Betty Thompson Dozier of Roy, Washington and Mr. and Mrs. William Bartlett McGregor of Tierra Verde, Florida and Gussie Ruth Harper Agee of Pine Hill and the late Billy Frank Agee. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Steen of Grove Hill. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Walker of Camden and the late Earl Dailey and Caroline Taylor Steen of Pine Apple and the late Wiley Oliver Steen. Before entering the church guests were registered and greeted by Regan Hoffman, Shelby McIntosh and Zachary Culpepper all cousins of the groom. The sanctuary was decorated with two large urns spilling with belles of Ireland, lavender roses, hybrid delphinium and cremones. To the right of the alter was the memory candle that was lit by Jamie Agee, brother of the bride, in memory of their grandfathers. The church's large cross in the baptistery provided the backdrop for the ceremony. Violins were played during the ceremony by the Lamb family. Grandmothers were seated to a selection of hymns and the mothers were then seated to "How Great Thou Art". Following the seating of the mothers, Christen Ridley of Birmingham read I Corinthians 13. The bride entered on the arm of her father to "God of Our Fathers". The bride wore an ivory one piece strapless Mon Cheri gown with pearl accents decorating the bodice and hem of a Sabrina style dress with lace and a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of white baby orchids and white roses. Attending the bride as maid of honor was Laura Steen, sister of the groom. The bridesmaids entered the sanctury to Pachelbel's "Cannon in D". They were Michelle Collins, cousin of the bride, Jessica Bell and Ame Crawford, both of Camden, Ellen Burge of Selma and Jennifer Parden, all of Grove Hill and Stephanie Emrich of Fairhope. They wore one piece strapless platinum dresses with a corset back, and they carried nosegays with bydrangea, lavender roses and alstroemeria. Alana Jordan, cousin of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore an ivory dupioni silk dress with a lavender sash and carried an ivory basket filled with rose petals. Robert Steen, father of the groom, served as best man. Other groomsmen were Jamie Agee and Brett Agee, brothers of the bride, Scott Steen, cousin of the groom, Jeremy Welch of Orange Beach, David Brenning of Atlanta and James Browder of Camden. Serving as ushers were Clay Thomas of Montgomery and Rich Jones of Wetumpka. Reese Culpepper, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer. He wore an ivory dupioni silk suit and carried an ivory monogrammed pillow. Immediately following the ceremony, Reverend Carl Williams invited quests to join the family at a reception honoring the couple at Gaines Ridge Dinner Club in Camden. The couple was applauded as they descended the steps of the church and were escorted by Luther Spires to the reception in Camden in an authentically restored turquoise 1958 Chevrolet car. At the reception the main serving table set under a white tent, was decorated with a large silver urn filled with belles of Ireland, lavender roses, hybrid delphinium, cremones and snaps. The reception tables were adorned with white cloths and hurricane lanterns surrounded by alstroemeria. The bride's table held a three layer red velvet monogrammed cake on top of a round silver pedestal. Serving at the table for the bride were Courtney Cooper of Camden and Somer Smith of Pine Hill. The punch was served by Lauren and Rachel Bell, both of Camden. The groom's table held a two layer Italian cream cake on a square silver pedestal. Serving for the groom was Joan Averitt of Troy and Gwen Jones of Camden. Music was also provided at the reception by the Lamb family. The couple chose to have the first dance to "I'll Be" by Edwin Mc- Cain, and then the bride danced with her father to "My Girl." During the reception, Madison and Laken Collins and Madison Galbraith, cousins of the bride, served as junior hostesses and handed out wedding favors. They were dressed in lavender batise sleeveless dresses with a white linen monogrammed collar. As reminders of the scripture read during the ceremony, guests were given Bible markers with the bride and grooms initials and I Corithians 13 printed on them. The couple was showered with rose petals as they left for a trip to the beach. After a trip to Panama City Beach, Fla., the couple plans to reside in Auburn. Serving as wedding director was Mary Shannon Cooper of Camden assisted by Scarlett Butts, cousin of the groom. Parties and Showers On Saturday, March 3, a Holiday Bridal Brunch was given at GainesRidge in honor of Jill and Rob. Each table was decorated in a different holiday theme. Hostesses for this occasion were Evelyn Bell, Sheree Browder, Courtney Cooper, DeLaine Cooper, Mary Shannon Cooper, Fran Hollinger, Vickie Lovinggood and Debbie Smith. Sunday, March 11, a Miscellaneous Bridal Tea was held at Pine Hill Baptist Church. Hostesses were Veronica Campbell, Delana Herren, Ann Swearingen, Angie Wright, Mattie Lee Wright, Evelyn Spires, Phyllis Hicks, Cynthia Fletcher, Anita Avritt, Pam Bradford, Christa Bell and Patricia Martin. Sunday April 1, a Miscellaneous Bridal Shower was held at the Grove Hill Methodist Church. The Hostesses were Kathy Ballard, Phyllis Barnes, Tammy Brasell, Carolyn Daffin, Lisa Dunagan, Sam Dunagan, Mary English, Hazel Etheridge, Cindy Gilmore, Nikki Gilmore, Vivian Gilmore, Dixie Goodwin, Linda Harrell, Diane Johnson, Sara Knight, Terry Norris, Jena Parden, Wylynn Phillippi, Martha Nell Reynolds, Suzanne Ward, Joy Welch and Lyda Williamson. Saturday April 14, a Handyman Cookout was held in Grove Hill at the Keahey Camp House. Rob was given many tools and items to help Jill around the house. Barbecued pork and chicken was served. Hostesses for this occasion were Tony and Susan Du- Bose, Billy and Kim Hamilton, Bo Keahey, Bobby and Pam Keahey, Marc and Lara Keahey, Jennifer Parden, Andy and Melanie Slayton, and Jeremy Welch. Sunday April 22, a Recipe Shower was given at the home of Blanche Spinks in Thomasville. Guests enjoyed baking a pie. Hostesses were Stephanie Emrich, Katie Spinks, Ruby O'Bryant, Beth Williams and Jan Overstreet. A Bachelorette Lingerie Party was held the weekend of April 27-29, at the Ray Smith Condominium in Orange Beach. Those attending were the bridesmaids and close friends of the bride. On Saturday May 5, Jill was honored with a Linen Shower at the home of Roberta Jordan in Pine Hill. The other hostesses were Eleanor Moore, Bobbie Samac, Evelyn Spires and Mattie Lee Wright. On the evening of May 5, the couple was given a Fish Fry at the home of Bruce and Debra Dailey in Camden. Also hosting the cookout was David and Scarlett Butts, Will and Michelle Culpepper, Warren and Diane Dailey, Kim and Stacie Edhegard, Rhett and Mary Nicholson, and Melanie McIntosh. On Friday May 18, Jill was given a bridesmaid luncheon at the home of Brad and Debbie Agee. At this time the bride chose to give her attendants their gifts. The hostesses were Sandy Criswell, Brenda Nelson and Terry Galbraith On the eve of the wedding the couple was honored by the grooms parents with an after rehersal dinner at GainesRidge Dinner Club in Camden. Guests were served appetizers on the porch and were greeted inside to a buffet dinner.
Following supper, guests enjoyed entertainment on the back porch.
