Chapman

Mary Adeline Chapman, 81, of the Winn community of Jackson died June 14, 2007 at Medical Center East in Birmingham.

She was a native of Grove Hill. She was born Jan. 12, 1926 to the parentage of the late Ceasor Mitchell Sr. and Della Cox Mitchell. She was retired from Searcy Hospital. She was a member of Pine Chapel #1 Baptist Church of Grove Hill and later was affiliated with the AOH Church of God in Winn and the St. Paul Church of God Pentecostal of Jackson.

Survivors included two sons, Elder Dayton (Lillie) Chapman, Birmigham, J.D. (Mona) Chapman, Mobile; five sisters, Gladys Holloway, Willodean Finch, Willie Mae Daniels, Nonie (Louis) Robinson, all of Grove Hill, Bardee Davis, Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Jamie Mitchell, Mt. Vernon, Ceasor (Zeola) Mitchell, Cleveland, Ohio; one sister in-law, Jeanette Mitchell, Hammond, La.; one aunt, Alma Cox, Grove Hill; devoted friends, Rev. Willie Goodman and family, Hazel Butler, Onnie Mae Cunningham, Brenda Pugh, Arcola Pugh and Maggie Chapman; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Chapman Sr., Jan. 2007.

Visitation will be Thursday, (today), June 21 from 2 until 6 p.m. at the chapel of Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. A second viewing will be Friday, June 22 one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. at Pine Chapel #1 Baptist Church with Elijah Scott, pastor and Elder Clifford Mitchell, eulogist. Burial will be in the Chapman Family Cemetery in Winn.
