Ground broken for new library wing

Ground was broken for the new addition to the Grove Hill Public Library last Thursday. The groundbreaking was preceded by a reception at the library.

Grove Hill residents Appie and Tom O'Melia were on hand to help with the ceremonious turning of dirt. The family's O'Melia Foundation made a sizeable donation to make the project possible.

The 1,200 square foot addition will include new space for a computer lab and genealogy materials. The addition will be named the O'Melia Family Room.

David Adams, a Gulf Shores architect, designed the addition. Rex Contractors of Thomasville was the low bidder on the $156,166 project and Grove Hill contractor John Daffin will construct the addition.
