Barfield bikes 416 miles!

Ed Barfield graduated from CCHS in 1967.
Grove Hill native Ed Barfield, 58, recently completed the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) from Columbus, GA., to Savannah. Barfield, Clarke County High School graduate in 1967, rode 416 miles in seven days.

The BRAG ride is an annual odyssey of discovery of Georgia by bicycle. BRAG is a family-oriented tour -- it is not a race. While a strenuous journey, BRAG has been completed by all types of people: college students and first graders, judges and soldiers, teachers and grandparents. More information can be found at www.brag.org .

The 2007 BRAG ride began in Columbus on Sunday, June 10, and ended in Savannah on Saturday, June 16.

"The first two days had some tough hills, and it was hot," said Barfield. "But we got a break from the heat and humidity after that, and the ride flattened out the last few days as we neared the coastline. It was a great time, and I met a lot of very nice folks."
