Dunagans celebrate 60th anniversary James and Sybil Dunagan of Coffeeville were honored with a 60th wedding anniversary celebration given by their family at Ulcanush Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, June 10. The couple were married on June 15, 1947 by Probate Judge Comma Garrett at his home in Grove Hill. The couple have four children: Mike (Gillie) Dunagan of Vestavia Hills; Glen (Donna) Dunagan of Eufaula; Paula (Higley) Parr of Demopolis: and Ralph (Janet) Dunagan of Coffeeville. They have six grandchildren: Amanda (Joey) Chance of Prattville; Jonathan (Alison) Dunagan of Gardendale; Jim (Amy) Parr of Demopolis; Joe Parr of Demopolis; Valarie (Doug) Elder of Lineville; and Robbie (Michelle) Dunagan of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. They have five great-grandchildren. The couple was driven to the church in a limousine provided by Southern Comfort Limousine Service of Mobile, owned and operated by their nephew, Jim Dunagan. A church service was held in the sanctuary of Ulcanush Baptist where their son Ralph Dunagan gave a short devotion, history, events of 1947, and read a congratulation card received from President and Mrs. Bush.
Special music was provided by their grandchildren Robbie Dunagan and Valarie Elder and Larry and Carol Cox. An altar bible was presented to the church in honor of their parent's anniversary. Jacob and John David Pritchett presented programs to the guests as they entered the sanctuary. Great-granddaughter, Frannie Chance and Maggie Pritchett presided at the guest book table. After the service a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. Serving the refreshments were their granddaughters; Amanda Chance, Valarie Elder, Amy Parr, and Michelle Dunagan. A slide show of family photographs were viewed during the reception. Approximately 100 attended to congratulate the couple.
