Smiley

Johnnie Mae Smiley, 93, of Thomasville died June 19, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Mobile.

She was born Jan. 1, 1914 in Glover. She was a member of New Hope #1 Baptist Church. She was active in the missionary society, pastor's aid, choir, Sunday school and the Christian Benevolent Society.

Survivors include three sons, Staff Sergeant (Retired) Otis Smiley, Ernest Lee Smiley, both of Mobile, Henry Lee Smiley, Thomasville, two daughters, Helen S. Johnson, Savannah, Ga., Alberta S. Dixon, Thomasville; one brother, July Holt, Birmingham; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Smiley.

The service was June 23 at 1 p.m. at New Hope #1 Baptist Church with James G. Curry officiating. Burial was in the New Hope #1 Baptist Church Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Lorenza Parker, Rex Parker, Rickey Parker, John L. Parker, Alonza Parker, Alphonsa Parker and Earnest Lewis Smiley.

Honorary pallbearers were sons and grandsons of Otis M. Smiley, Wayne M. Smiley, Roderick Smiley, Gary Smiley, Kevin Hinton and Derrick Hinton.
