Coach-pitch all-stars earn two wins

The Grove Hill Coach-Pitch softball stars beat Sweet Water 12-11 last Saturday to remain alive in the district tournament in Gilbertown.

Madison Newton had a walk-off 2-run homer to help Grove Hill advance. She had two hits in the game.

Allison Johnson, Amanda Pugh, Ashley Daffin and Abby Luker each had two hits. Lindsay Smith also had a hit.

Earlier on Saturday Grove Hill lost 17-6 to Gilbertown.

Casen Young and Starr McGill each had two hits. Aubrey May and Shelby Sellers each added a hit.

Grove Hill opened the tournament last Friday by beating Sumter 25-16.

Amanda Pugh, Madison Newton and Casen Young each had four hits. Allison Johnson, Ashley Daffin, N'seya Morrissette, Abby Luker, Starr McGill and Celina Becton each had three hits. Shelby Sellers and Aubrey May each had a hit.

Grove Hill was to play Gilbertown/Demopolis Monday night but that game was rained out. The game was to made up on Tuesday night.
