Courthouse annex nearly ready
Work continues to progress on the new courthouse annex. Dumas Manufacturing installed benches and other fixtures in the two new upstairs courtrooms last week. Each courtroom has its own jury room and those have been furnished too (bottom left). Office furniture for the two circuit judges, secretaries and court reporters are being moved into their secure first floor suites and benches remain to be installed in the new commission/ probate courtroom. Offices are also marked for county commissioners. One apparent design flaw is in the men's restroom on the first floor. A low window is right over a toilet that looks out onto the front of the courthouse and Court Street. A shade can fix the problem but it is amusing to see!
