Free skin cancer screening offered in Monroeville Gulf Coast Cancer Centers will hold a free skin cancer screening for the public at its Monroeville office, located at 200 Rumbley Road on Thursday, July 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Centers' physician Dr. William C. Hixson will be on hand to answer questions regarding skin cancer. "Early detection screenings and examinations can help save lives and reduce suffering from common cancers like skin cancer," said Dr. Hixson. "Because it is important to find these cancers early, we encourage these examinations by offering them to the public throughout the year." According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common of all cancers and accounts for half of all cancers in the United States. It is estimated that more than one million people will be diagnosed with skin cancer in 2007. To schedule an appointment time, call the Monroeville office at (251) 575-2697 or call toll free at 866-970-GCCC (4222).
