Three arrested in drug bust
Cocaine, guns and ammo found at Jackson residence

The Clarke County Sheriff's Office of Criminal Investigations received a tip that a package containing narcotics was being delivered to a residence at 634 Vine Street in Jackson.

An investigation was begun, and a search warrant was executed on the residence.

Items seized June 25 included 140 grams of powdered cocaine with a street value of $14,000, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a large assortment of guns and ammunition and one vehicle.

Arrested were Michael Abston, 31, of St. Stephens, Ala., Donnies Cliff Cole, 56, of 634 Vine Street in Jackson, and Melva Gatson Dickinson, A.K.A. Melva Brown, 54, also of 634 Vine Street in Jackson.

Abston and Dickinson were charged with trafficking cocaine, and bonds were set at $500,000 each. Cole was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon. His bond was set at $3,000.

According to Chief Deputy Vergil Chapman, federal charges may also be forthcoming.

The search began at the Jackson residence at 10 a.m. and was wrapped up by 10 p.m.

Agencies involved in the case were the Clarke County Sheriff's Department (Chief Investigator Ron Baggette and Deputy Jim Mundie), First Judicial Task Force, the Washington County Sheriff's Department, the Jackson Police Department, the Coffeeville Police Department, the District Attorney's Office and the Pine Hill K-9 Unit.
