Cross to play in AHSAA all-star baseball game

The Clarke County High School Bulldogs and the Leroy Bears matched up Monday afternoon in a 7-on-7 passing camp. No lineman, other than the center, are used. It is strictly for working passing drills and the defense of the passing game. Teams are allowed several of these over the course of the summer. The two teams will meet again, this time on July 17 in Leroy.
Hunter Cross of Clarke County, Kent Myer of Jackson, Grant Brown of Leroy have been selected to the North-South baseball teams competing during the 11th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week July 9-13 in Hunstville.

Both rosters are composed of upcoming seniors. The all-stars will play a doubleheader on Monday, July 9, at Joe Davis Stadium at 4 p.m.

Cross and Myer will be infielders and Brown is a catcher on the South squad. Cross and Myer were both chosen to the first team of the Alabama Sports Writers Association all-state baseball.

Coaching the South team are Bill Glover of Baker, Ashley Kilcrease of Brantley, Darrell Hobson of Bibb County and Wendell Jackson of Elmore County. Mark Mincher of Huntsville is administrative coach.
