Festive for the Fourth!

Dayton and Kelsey Horton celebrate the summer with a synchronized leap in the Timberlane pool in Grove Hill. Photo by Gary Horton
Coffeeville youngsters enjoyed the July 3 fireworks show held on the campus of Coffeeville High School. Rainy weather almost canceled the event but didn't. The City of Jackson's fireworks show on the evening of July 4 drew a good turnout too.
Stacey and Sandy Dunagan auctioned cakes to benefit the fire department, new library and other Coffeeville projects.
Ivy Griffin of WJDB Radio (above, left) buys barbecue from former Thomasville Mayor Norman Loper at the American Legion Barbecue in Thomasville July 4. There was a good turnout for the annual event, with some folks eating at the Legion Post and others getting take-out boxes to eat at home.
Some light rain didn't bother these Coffeeville children on the water slide (above). Mayor Faye Cotten (below) kept tabs on Summer Fest activities July 3 from aboard her golf cart, aided by area youngsters who enjoyed the ride…and the wet weather too!
It may have rained a little on these youngsters' Fourth of July parade but they didn't care. Parading at Grove Hill's Timberlane Pool July 4 were Kimbell Bush, Tim Russell, Maggie Cox and Kimberly Jordan.
