Anton

Edward "Tony" Anton, 93, of Jackson died July 8, 2007 in an area hospital.

He was born May 20, 1914. He was a native of Exeter, Nebraska. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jackson. He was a retired millwright. He had the distinction of being the last surviving Mt. Rushmore driller.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Fae Anton, Jackson; one son, Douglas Anton, Port Angeles, Wash.; one step-son, Gerald Mendes; one stepdaughter, Sherry Jones, Jackson; one brother, Joseph Anton, Washington; two sisters, Alice Scherkenbach, San Diego, Calif., Mae Murphy, Bremerton, Wash.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Friday, July 13 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson will direct.
