North Clarke 13-year-old all-stars fall in tournament
In Friday's opener North Clarke took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third but it was all Daphne from that point on. Zach Watford, who was the starter and the first of four pitchers used by North Clarke in the game, was tagged with the loss. In three innings of work he allowed four runs on four hits, one walk and two hit batsmen while striking out four. Rodarius Brothers went to the mound next, working 1/3 inning in which he allowed four runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one. Payne Wilson relieved Brothers and worked 12/3 innings in which he gave up one run on two hits while striking out three. Hunter Jackson pitched the final inning giving up two runs on two hits and one hit batsman while striking out one. Over on offense North Clarke posted four hits with Damarco Bowen, Lamar Charleston, Jarvis Dunning and Hunter Jackson all picking up one. Bowen had the only extra-base hit with a double. Rodarius Brothers and Zach Day each drove in one run to account for the teams two RBIs. Saturday's match-up with Jackson was a see-saw battle with the lead changing hands three times before the eventual winning run crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning. Zach Watford, who took the loss for North Clarke in game one of the tournament, was also the pitcher of record in Saturday's game. He had followed starter Hunter Jackson to the mound coming on in the third inning. Jackson in his two-inning stint allowed three runs on two hits, one walk and one hit batsman. Watford over the course of the other six innings allowed three runs on four hits, four walks, and one hit batsman while striking out seven.
At the plate North Clarke out hit their opponent, recording nine hits to only six. Leading the charge were Rodarius Brothers and Adam Sparks with three hits each. They were followed by Zach Watford with two hits and Jarvis Dunning with one. Brothers had the only extra-base hit with a homerun. In the RBI area Brothers had two while Dunning and Sparks recorded one apiece.
