Fleming

Charles "Charlie" Gordon Fleming, 82, of Grove Hill died July 16, 2007 in a Mobile area hospital.

He was born Jan. 12, 1925. He was a native of Salitpa. He was a member of the Peniel Baptist Church. He was a retired Chief Engineer with the Corp of Engineers and Warrior Gulf Navigation. He was also a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Xia, Birmingham, Shirley Miller, Lucedale, Miss., Patricia Smith, Charlotte Rice, both of Grove Hill; one sister, Bertha McLeod, Mobile; eight grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren.

The service was July 18 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Shannon Moses officiating. Burial was in the W.A. Smith Cemetery in Grove Hill.
