All-stars set for sub-state tourney
The North Clarke 14-year-old All-Star Baseball team dropped a 10-6 decision to Jackson in the final game of the District 7 Tournament played on Tuesday, July 10, in Jackson. With the loss in the game, North Clarke ended the tournament with a 3-2 record and finished in the runner-up spot. As the runner-up they will join the championship Jackson team in advancing to the State Tournament which is slated to begin on Friday, July 20 in Enterprise. They play the Montgomery all-stars at 5:30 p.m. In the loss to Jackson, DeAndre Love pitched a complete game for North Clarke giving up 10 runs on nine hits and three hit batsmen while striking out five. That evened his tournament mark at 1 and 1. On offense the North Clarke All-Stars picked up eight hits in the loss with Will Wiggins leading the way with two hits while Darius Bowen, Brett Green, Jacob Horton, Windham Jackson and Michael Thompson all had one. Wiggins had the only extra-base hits with a pair of doubles and led the team in RBIs with three. Bowen had the only other RBI for North Clarke.  | | Photos by www.garyhortonphotography.com |
