Fish stocking available for ponds Effective September 1, 2007, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division will increase the fee for stocking private ponds in order to capture the cost of the program. A one-acre pond stocked with both bass and bream will cost $140 and will cost $70 stocked with bass only. The fee structure will be a minimum of $70 for ponds onehalf acre or smaller, plus incremental adjustments of $35 for each additional one-quarter surface acre for ponds five surface acres or smaller. For ponds larger than five surface acres, the fee will increase to $140 per acre. Ponds stocked with bass only will cost one-half of the full stocking fee. This change reflects the WFF Division's continuing effort to provide private pond owners an opportunity to stock their ponds correctly and at an economical cost.
