Loper

Charlie Howard Loper, 88, of Chatom died July 20, 2007 in an automobile accident at State Line, Miss.

He was born May 22, 1919. He was a veteran of World War II and a tank driver for the United States

Army. He was a member of Laton

Hill Baptist Church.

He was a farmer and timber dealer. He was a retired operator from Ciba.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Loper, State Line, Miss.; one son, Tommy (Paula) Loper, Theodore; one daughter, Ann (Jim) Overstreet, Laton Hill community in Chatom; two stepdaughters, Bonnie White, Daphne, Teresa Cope, Midlothian, Va.; two brothers, Houston Loper, Jackson, Levon Loper, Chatom; three sisters, Minnie Lee Williams, Chatom, Alma Jean Pope, Montgomery, Beatrice Lee, Mobile; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Lathan Loper and parents, Willie and Miranda Loper and a sister, Eula Mae Scarbrough.

The service was July 24 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom. Burial was in the Layton Hill Cemetery in Chatom.
