Bettis

Mildred Fields Bettis, 72, of Sunflower died July 14, 2007 at a local nursing facility.

She was born May 30, 1935. She was a retired educator of 30 years with the Washington County Board of Education. She also volunteered tutoring services in Clarke and Washington counties.

Survivors include one son, Roseal Bettis, Sunflower; one daughter, Valda (Christopher) Chijide, MD of Regina, Saskatchewan; one sister, Augusta Fields, Sunflower; two grandchildren.

The service was July 21 at the Little Sunflower Baptist Church at Sunflower with Revs. Dave Adams Jr., and David Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Benjamin Franklin Fields Family Cemetery in Sunflower. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
