Sellers named coordinator of HIPPY Program

Sellers
The Clarke County Development Foundation has employed Jane Sellers of Grove Hill as the Coordinator of the HIPPY Program.

Sellers is a retired educator with the Clarke County Board of Education and has worked parttime with the Clarke County Extension System as an Agent-Assistant. She will be participating in the 2007 HIPPY Pre-Service training in Little Rock, Arkansas, Aug. 5-10.

After this training, Mrs. Sellers will facilitate the implementation and execution of the HIPPY Program in Clarke County. The HIPPY Program is a researchbased, parent involvement, school readiness program designed to empower parents as the primary educators of their preschool age children at home.

In addition to the coordinator, HIPPY Clarke County is seeking five parent educators to go into the home and work with parents to teach kindergarten readiness skills to their four year old children. The program is also seeking to identify children in Clarke County who need assistance with school readiness.

HIPPY Clarke County is a project of the Clarke County Development Foundation working in collaboration with the school systems of Clarke County, municipalities and the business community.
